As awkward as some of us will find this, it’s not all about techno in Berlin’s underground. BeatPete is the living proof for this, maintaining an impressive collection of records, revolving around hip hop, soul, funk, jazz and everything between. He hosted the Backyard Joints party in Berlin for nearly 6 years and this year he was invited to mix at Meadows In The Mountains Festival in Bulgaria, Waking Life Festival in Portugal and at O Mato Festival in Berlin. Check also his mixtapes for Analog Affinities and 50/50 ;)
He is also one of the main reasons we started a brand new awareness campaign, urging people to rediscover the pleasure of laziness from time time. We called it Pe Lene and marked it with a delightful series of laid back mixes, starting with BeatPete behind the decks

We also seize the moment to dive into BeatPete’s private record collection, to discover a few of his most precious pieces of wax :) Enjoy!
A second hand dig I’m most proud of
The record I’d love to see it repressed
Sunrise Ltd. – Until My Love Returns
The label I’d buy all their releases without even listening to them
Nowadays there’s no label where I buy without listening but I did this around 2000 with Stones Throw releases… Madlib Invazion!
The record artwork that blows my mind every time I look at it
The record that triggers childhood memories
The record shop I would spend my whole savings in
I had my nicest diggin’ experiences in Moscow. Probably a store there but sadly I forgot all names.
The record that never leaves my DJ bag
Lonnie Listen Smith & The Cosmic Echoes – Expansions
Last record I checked its price on discogs
Last record I bought for my home listening pleasure
The record closest to my heart from my entire collection
