Is there any better fit for this vinyl only series than a record shop owner? We traveled (virtually) all the way to Dubai, UAE, to meet Shadi Megallaa, a man of many alter egos: record shop owner at The Flip Side, the only record shop in Dubai, head honcho at Ark To Ashes record label, record selector, record collector and sneakers addict. So yeah, his lifestyle revolves around records, no matter the genre.

Electronic music is part of his life, even if there’s more than electronic music in his super eclectic DJ sets. So, behind his glowing charisma, let’s meet Shadi’s vinyl alter ego with a neat selection of some of his favourite records:

A second hand dig I’m most proud…
Chez Damier – Help Myself

The record I’d love to see it repressed
YS – Perfumed Garden (This was never pressed on vinyl but it needs to be)

The label I’d buy all their releases without even listening to them

The record artwork that blows my mind every time I look at it
Funkadelic – Hardcore Jollies

The record that triggers childhood memories.
Michael Jackson – Thriller

The record shop I would spend my whole savings in
Amoeba Records

The record that never leaves my DJ bag

The Delinquents – Room On Top (Wiggle)

Last record I checked its price on discogs

Don’t remember, it’s been a while. It’s easier to get records from my record shop :)

Last record I bought for my home listening pleasure

Noda & Wolfers – Tascam Space Season
