Dorian Paic has been an integral part of Frankfurt’s club scene for the past 25 years, no matter if it was behind the decks at Music Hall, Sven Vaeth’s Omen, Monza or Robert Johnson in Offenbach. Add a Cocoon residency at Amnesia Ibiza and constant appearances at Club Der Visionaere in Berlin, the city he calls home right now, and we can get a glimpse of Dorian’s influence on Europe’s underground. His extended sets that blur the line between house and techno in the most subtle way possible are strong proof of his record selector skills. And if there’s anything to add, take a look at his own imprint, Raum… musik, where you may find a lot of influential records over the course of house music history, from Villalobos’ Baby to Funk E’s Jazz The Two Of Us.
Raum…Musik’s 117th release welcomes Rob Amboule for his debut on the imprint. Cross-sectioning and gently blending the worlds of Minimal, Techno and Progressive Trance, the three club ready tracks of “Digerital EP” showcase a fresh side of a producer brimming with mature musical ideas and finely tuned production skills.
We can all agree on this one: it’s not by accident that the sound of house music from the early nineties made a glorious comeback around Europe for the past couple of years. Dorian took some time to compile a list of 10 tracks, released between 1991 and 1992 and we have the honor to present it here. Enjoy it as much as we did!
I decided to present 10 Tracks that came out between 1991 and 1992. Why? Because I think that those were the golden days of dance music, that can not be mentioned enough. Why 10 tracks and not 5, as requested? Because even with 10 tracks it is pretty hard to spotlight the stuff that came out in those years. EBM was slowly dying out and there was a sheer explosion of creativity. People were just putting out quality stuff, not caring too much about genres or technical aspects. The equipment was much more limited, so you really had to have a good idea and just try to get the best out of it. Just a few soundtracks, not too much effects and just the essence of each style. The tracks that I have chosen are different genres, but all came out around this time and I hope that you will enjoy them as much, as I enjoyed compiling this list.
