As we continue to collect track selections from our favourite artists, we discovered some really interesting musical personalities behind the ones we usually get to see behind the decks. Same story applies to UK’s East End Dubs. You most likely danced already to some of his strictly dance floor tracks, that has presented themselves as pure energy drops somewhere between stomping tech house and stripped minimal house groove, with influences going down to the most remote corners of Europe’s electronic underground.
And when he’s not busy producing music for his own vinyl imprints, East End Dubs Vinyl and Eastenderz, where you can find some Romanian flavors also, with the likes of Priku, Cosmjn and Arapu, you can find him dropping bomb after bomb in some famous underground outposts.
Hiding beneath the electronic surface, we discovered a softer musical personality, in love with the smooth side of jazz, as revealed by East End Dubs’ track selection below: 5 Jazz Tracks, close to his heart.
Miles Davis – Blue in Green
Let’s start with a classic. Miles Davis. Absolute legend with amazing skills. This track takes me places. Kind of music I listen to throughout the day.
Kamasi Washington – Re Run Home
I’ve heard the Epic album in 2016 and fell in love with this track, This type of music gives me inspiration. Love the slow start and the build up with the horns. It doesn’t fit in Jazz standards but I love it just the way it is.
Evrim Demirel Ensemble – Ada
I’ve listened Evrim live and he is a very talented young musician. This track is taken from his album which was released in 2012. Those vocals give me goosebumps.
GoGo Penguin – Hopopono
Most recent album I purchased is GoGo Penguin – A Humdrum Star. Heard one of their tracks on Jazz FM and fell in love. Cosmic melodies, limitless arrangements. Just the way I like it.
Masayoshi Takanata – An Insatiable High
This album never left my playlist, It gives me energy and makes me happy. Ed Green and Harvey Mason on drums and they have done an amazing job.
