Every time we met Georgia Girl, she was surrounded with records. Whether it was behind Misbits’ turntables, mixing some silky minimal house that blended into the afternoon just perfect, or digging through the second hand crates at some obscure record shop in East London, records were in the centre of her musical universe. Beside hunting vinyl around Europe, Georgia Girl made some unforgetable appearances at Point, Half Baked and Eastenderz recently, sharing the decks with the likes of Ion Ludwig or Robin Ordell.

As we know her record selector side when it comes to packed dance floors, time has come to get to know her ever expanding vinyl alter ego. She opened up the door to her private collection, read below what we’ve discovered there :)

A second hand dig I’m most proud of

I have loved and played this record for years. I paid £2 for it at a car boot sale. Winning!

The record I’d love to see it repressed

Sometimes it’s better not to repress records ;)

The label I’d buy all their releases without even listening to them

Nervmusic. Super interesting, forward-thinking output from this label

The record artwork that blows my mind every time I look at it

Stunning

The record that triggers childhood memories

This was such an influential track for me and my friends in our youth. Anytime I hear it now, I’m immediately transported back to those endless and carefree days…

The record shop I would spend my whole savings in

I would never spend my savings in one shop – spread your net far and wide!

The record that never leaves my DJ bag

I take her out the bag and she always finds a way to creep back in again. She knows she is always welcome so we agreed she could make herself a nice comfortable home in there and save ourselves some time

Last record I checked its price on discogs

My current copy had begun to suffer from natural old age, wear and tear and developed some snap, crackle & pops. I was very happy to find a copy at a very reasonable prices on discogs. Happily purchased another copy :)

Last record I bought for my home listening pleasure

Gorgeous record right here! Ambience <3

The record closest to my heart from my entire collection

Hard to choose one! But this record is definitely up there. The main track ‘Ten Canoes’ features sampled dialogue from one of my favourite independent films (by the same title). It’s a story within a story which sees a young Aborigne warrior wandering through the bush and learning all sorts of wonderful, funny & charming life lessons. Much like the the movie, the track is beautifully emotive :)
