If you’re curious what’s cooking in Netherlands’ undergrounds, you should check Julian Anthony and his infectious groove he’s been preaching about in Europe’s hottest spots, from Hoppetosse Berlin to Fabric London or DC10 Ibiza. Without being loyal to a certain electronic genre, Julian likes to take his audience on a wide musical spectrum journey, from 90s house music to bass heavy techno. This is why we had to get in touch with his Vinyl Alter Ego, so we asked Julian Anthony to reveal his record selector personality. This is what we discovered, enjoy the selection as much as we did!
His debut EP will be out soon on X-Kalay, you can listen to a preview here 👇
A second hand dig I’m most proud of
I’ve been a massive fan of NERD for a long time so it’s nice to have this collectors item in my cabinet even though for me it isn’t NERD’s best work.
The record I’d love to see it repressed
This one went up to crazy prices after it got id’ed on instagram. This one deserves a repress for sure.
The label I’d buy all their releases without even listening to them
The record artwork that blows my mind every time I look at it
Mesmerizing cover art combined with mesmerizing jazz music.
The record that triggers childhood memories
Bob Marley & The Wailers – Natty Dread
My dad used to always play lots of reggae when I was a kid and the music he played has had great influence on my musical taste. This one triggers all the great childhood memories.
The record shop I would spend my whole savings in
The record that never leaves my DJ bag
Liquid Earth has been one of my favorite producers ever since i’ve found him under his Urulu Alias. Butter Side Up has been one of my favorite newer record labels and I’ve been buying pretty much everything they release. This one never leaves my record bag.
Last record I checked its price on discogs
Grooveshop – Confessions Of A DJ
Last record I bought for my home listening pleasure
Soichi Terada – Sounds From The Far East
I’ve seen Soichi Terada Live a few times (big recommendation). I’ve been after this album for a while and recently managed to buy the repress version of it.
The record closest to my heart from my entire collection
Got this album from my good friend Joren Edwards for my birthday and i’ve been playing it a lot on relaxing Sundays.
