After shaping New York’s underground personality with the Blk|Market Membership parties for more than 12 years (BlkMarket is now Blk|market Music and still supporting the electronic underground as an imprint, be sure to check their latest releases here), and being the head dance buyer at the former Halcyon the shop for 8 years, Taimur the DJ/Producer/label head has chosen a different path starting with 2021: opening his own record shop T Bag Records in Miami with his wife Ostara, and focusing on DJing, music productions as well as running his label. This path was influenced by his record selector alter ego, as Taimur has been digging crates since 1999 and that makes a quarter of a century collecting records.

An already established name in the world of record collectors through discogs, T Bag Records is focused on strictly underground dance electronic music: with a focus on house, techno, acid, electro, breakbeat, ebm, industrial, hardcore, trance, progressive house, leftfield, IDM, minimal, nu-disco, drum n bass and more. The shop offers an intimate crate digging experience as well as private via appointment only shopping sessions in its nice & cozy space, with its walls filled with records, tapes, cds, curated teas by Ostara, stocks of spiritual jewels, books, vintage clothing and more. While their online discogs page has primarily only new domestic and imports, the physical shop stocks used records and rarities which are not online, making it a gold mine for much sought after and hard to find underground dance music records from across the world.

There’s much more to explore at T Bag Records: the shop also hosts a Healing Center run by Ostara, a recording studio run by Amo and another recording studio run by Freak The Disco.

The record shop space used to be the former Space nightclub / III Points festival offices that the T Bag crew took over. So there is some Miami history within its walls.

No matter if we’re talking about fresh stuff or used records, there’s always something precious to find hidden in T Bag Records’ shelves, so we asked Taimur to give us a quick tour of the current vinyl stock, uncovering a few gems that should please selectors, but also crowds. We’ve been blessed with a record selection filled with edgy electro grooves, nu disco, techno, IDM and a bit of synthwave that covers a small part of the genre spectrum covered by T Bag Records. Dig into it! 👇

The record label you’d always stock, no matter the release.

Sonic Groove. One of my all time favorite labels run by my friend Adam X

One hidden gem (used record)

Cylob ‎– Living In The 1980s (B/w Sex Machine) EP on Rephlex of IDM, Synth Pop and Electro. This one usually has been under the radar for a long time, but particularly one track stands out on this EP and it is the electro bomb Sex Machine.

One hidden gem (brand new record)

Liquor Store Cheerleaders on Designforms. Research label run by Jonra. Fantastic various artists EP of Electro, Techno and Nu-Disco featuring tracks by Jon & E:Machinery, HYMNS and Living In Ghosts featuring Woolfy.

A rare record you’re most proud of having it in the store

Andrew Weatherall and Keith Tenniswood’s Two Lone Swordsmen – Locked Swords 2×12” Limited Edition. Assortment of locked grooves, beats, and tones as used on the Turntables and Machines Tour that was release on Warp Records in 2001.

The record that sold out the fastest

French Theory – Lost On the Way To Destelbergen re-issue of a much sough 2007 classic 12” of New Beat on Number Nine Records. Inspired by David Lynch’s Lost Highway film.

The most underrated record in your store right now

Volta Cab – Alphabet of Humanity 12” of Synthwave and Electro on Thisbe Recordings. Such a wicked 12” and I have yet to sell a copy even after putting the release in customers hands.

The record that perfectly describe the store’s unique vibe

Dufi – Natural Selection 12” on Nature Records. The artwork colors to the tripped out tracks all sum up the shop’s overall vibe.

The record you’ve recommended very often to your clients in 2024

These 2 releases by friends Reade Truth and DJ Spun on our label(s).

Reade Truth – The Beauty of The Dark 12” mini album.

DJ Spun – Party Edits on our edits label Blkmarket Music Party Edits.

One record you’d like to see repressed and available in your shop

Bass Master Kahn & The Elements Of Noise – Bassenthrobulation LP that came out in 1990 from the US.

One record from a young blood producer that has taken you by surprise in 2024

I just got to know of them earlier this year. Duo from Toronto, Canada that go under the alias Siviyex. They put out The Mirrax Sequence LP on Nooma Records and it is stellar.
