Perlon, Visionquest, Tartelet, Eskimo, Rawax, Amphia, Circus Company, Future Classic… An impressive list of record labels that have chosen to release Wareika’s sounds since the inception of the project in Hamburg back in 2007.
Crafting a truly unique sound came much from Jakob, Florian and Henrik’s academic studies of Jazz and Classical, with a generous self taught topping of electronic music. You don’t have to take our word for it, just catch them performing live for a major open air festival or at one of your favourite clubs, whether Club der Visionaere Berlin or Fabric London. Until then, Wareika kindly invited us into their musical universe to explore a bit of their sources of inspiration!
Deadbeat
…of course, we can mention our heroes, like the “Wareika Dub” by Rico Rodriguez, Scientist, or Rhythm and Sound`s “Showcase” Album wih Tikiman. And there are silent partners, who accompany our way, like Sammy Dee or “Karsten”, who has done our booking for nearly twelve years, and even if we share similar ideals, it is about us to nourish our roots and to develop further. Deadbeat is constantly doing this with lightest joy.
Herbert-Around the House (full Album)
This full Album is just pure funk and groove and shows all the beauty of Matthew Herbert´s productions with the unique voice of Dani Siciliano. Pure class!
Marcos Valle – 1985 (Theo Parrish translation) .
sure, we met at Hamburg’s Mojo Club and appreciate Brazilian, soul, jazz, jungle, and the ever-embracing “house,” which our good friend Theo has also taken a step further with his unmistakable laugh, his profound aesthetic, and his love of translating so much more into his electronic language.
A Reminiscent Drive-Mercy Street (full Album)
The Ambient Masterpiece of Jay Alanski is full of deep emotions, sadness, hope, song structures and space. A nearly forgotten pearl from 1997.
Jorge Ben – Oba, La Vem Ela
An attitude to life, like a voice in the surf. From Wareika with love….
Massive Attack vs Mad Professor-No Protection (full Album)
Another classic of the mid 90ies! Its hard to say if you prefer the original “Protection” of Massive Attack or the dubbed-out “No Protection” version which they recorded together with the caribbean legend Mad Professor.
“No Protection” is an example of a perfect overdub remix Album.
Kamazi Washington – TRUTH
A modern classic masterpiece. Listen AND watch regularly , you will stay grounded.
Sun Ra – SPACE IS THE PLACE
This record simply belongs in every household.
John Coltrane – KULU SE MAMA
Lots and lots and lots of wareikian source music on this record !!
Rand – Lucid
Dirk Maasen – Feather
A duo that listens consciously and whose music develops its individuality down to the last detail. Current interpretations by Steevio, Andrea Cichecki, Dr. Nojoke, and Deadbeat are also highly recommended.
